Kelly Clarkson guest stars on Nashville. The pregnant country singer has made a cameo appearance on the ABC drama, playing herself. The the expectant 31 year-old sits at a grand piano as she auditions Gunnar Scott, played by Sam Palladio and Scarlett O’Connor, played by Clare Bowen. After the former couple croons their duet Lately, the American Idol champ asks them to consider writing songs for her new album. She tells them: “It’s such a special connection that you two have and there’s really nothing else to say, y’all just sound great together. I was just hoping that y’all wouldn’t mind locking yourselves away for a few days just to write some stuff, see what happens.” But Scarlett responds with: “Miss Clarkson, I’m thrilled that you want to record our song, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity that you’ve given us to work with you. It’s just I thought I could make it work, but I can’t,” before walking out of the studio. Clarkson is the latest country music legend to appear on the critically-acclaimed musical drama following cameos from Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, Chris Young, and the Black Keys.
